About The Center:
The Center for Ergonomics at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee is a joint collaboration between the Colleges of Engineering and Health Sciences. Drs. Arun Garg and Phyllis King head the center, which also employs staff based in both the Colleges of Engineering and Health Sciences at UWM who contribute to the various activities of the center, including research, education and training. The center has several laboratorys located in both the Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and Endris Hall Buildings. The center's labratories feature state of the art equipment such as Electromyograph (EMG) and Lumbar Motion Monitors (LMM).
The center oversees programs that are very active in education, research and consulting. The center also draws from a multidisciplinary composition experts from various departments: Arun Garg, Ph. D. C.P.E., Phyllis King, Ph. D., Kurt T. Hegmann, M.D., M.P.H., J. Steven Moore, M.D., M.P.H., C.P.E.
The Ergonomics program conducts research in the area of musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremities, low back pain and health care units. Primary funding for ongoing research is funded by grants from National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA).
